Set in glamorous Monte Carlo, this very popular and tantalizing French romantic comedy stars Romain Duris as Alex, a master of seduction who teams up with his sister (Julie Ferrier) and her husband (François Damiens) to run an unusual business: they are hired by concerned parents and friends to break up couples who “shouldn’t be together.” Alex’s latest assignment is the group’s most challenging to date: he must charm haughty wine expert Juliette (Vanessa Paradis) away from her seemingly perfect fiancé before their wedding, and to succeed, he might have to break their number one rule: never break up a romance if the woman is truly happy. This perfectly scripted flick brings together elements of slapstick, crime caper movies and even an homage to “Dirty Dancing” in winning fashion, and is already slated for an “American remake.” Catch the superior version here in Traverse City.
