On November 4, 2008, Americans went to the polls to vote in an historic election. It was a day like any other, and filmmaker Jeff Deutchman decided to record the entire day by giving cameras to 20 filmmakers around the country (and the world) and having them film from 5am to 4am the next morning. What resulted is this exhilarating look at the incredible day a country that was built on the backs of African slaves would elect its first African-American president. This experiment in filmmaking as a socially collaborative endeavor will transport you back as you remember where you were and what you did that day. It is now nearly two years later and the
problems he inherited (two wars, a busted economy) and ones that have arisen (a devastating oil spill) have perhaps sobered many and 11/4/08 seems like a distant memory. That's why sometimes it's good to think back to a time where hope and optimism seemed to carry the day. Regardless of who you voted for, this movie will lift your spirits about the great things America can still do.
